Carnegie Carnival Is Positively Fun!
In 2012, the Carnegie Visual Arts Center presented Decatur’s first Mardi Gras-style celebration with the “Carnegie Carnival.” Charter members created a season that spans from Carnival Petition to the King and Queen to open the royal season to Twelfth Night in January to candidate events and culminates with the Carnegie Carnival parades, always held on the Saturday before Fat Tuesday.

All of my travels, far and wide, finally led me back to North Alabama, where I belong. It’s here in Decatur that my wife from Arizona and my kids from California have finally found their roots. Decatur, Alabama, is our home now, and we positively love it.

This Is Decatur
The Tennessee river and its tributaries run through this city. But, more importantly, the grace of God runs through the hearts of the people living or working there. Genuine kindness oozes through the pores of their souls. That’s why Decatur, Alabama, is always one of my favorite places to visit.
Not Your Mom’s Decatur
Growing up in the early 2000s, I took the incredible amenities Decatur has to offer for granted, and I was excited to “grow up” and move away somewhere new. After traveling and a four-year move to Tuscaloosa, when my husband and I decided to plant roots, Morgan County was easily where we wanted to live. Now, Decatur is where my husband and I both work and spend our free time very often.
Positively Caring City Employees
Oscar Jasso and Dillion Boteler of the Environmental Services Department were out on their collection route, when they witnessed a resident collapse in their yard. Oscar and Dillion stayed with the resident, called 911, and followed the dispatcher’s instructions until medical attention could arrive.

Le Dîner en Blanc is an elegant large-scale “pop-up” picnic in a secret location, revealed at the very last minute. Dressed in white from head to toe, guests arrive at the pickup location with supplies in hand ready to celebrate.
