Every year residents of Decatur that love the Arts, and those who simply love a wonderful time, attend River Clay Fine Arts Festival! Held on the third full weekend of October, the festival offers families and arts patrons the opportunity to visit with artists, purchase art, create art, and more.

Suzie Wiley’s show, Valley Happenings, is Alabama’s longest-running, female-produced show. And she lives right here in Decatur!

Now, even MORE rockets will be built in Decatur! United Launch Alliance in Decatur has announced an expansion! This 500,000-square-foot expansion will bring an estimated 250 jobs to the area to support Amazon’s global broadband deployment mission. They expect to conduct their first launch for Amazon in 2024.

Point Mallard has long been the spot for Decatur and the surrounding areas to congregate, play, and work in the warmer (and sometimes blazing hot) months of the year.

The Tennessee river and its tributaries run through this city. But, more importantly, the grace of God runs through the hearts of the people living or working there. Genuine kindness oozes through the pores of their souls. That’s why Decatur, Alabama, is always one of my favorite places to visit.

Growing up in the early 2000s, I took the incredible amenities Decatur has to offer for granted, and I was excited to “grow up” and move away somewhere new. After traveling and a four-year move to Tuscaloosa, when my husband and I decided to plant roots, Morgan County was easily where we wanted to live. Now, Decatur is where my husband and I both work and spend our free time very often.

Oscar Jasso and Dillion Boteler of the Environmental Services Department were out on their collection route, when they witnessed a resident collapse in their yard. Oscar and Dillion stayed with the resident, called 911, and followed the dispatcher’s instructions until medical attention could arrive.

Local shop owner, Eva Blayhut, provides a service that goes well beyond what you’d expect. The continuous support from the community affords Eva the opportunity to keep returning the favor.

Le Dîner en Blanc is an elegant large-scale “pop-up” picnic in a secret location, revealed at the very last minute. Dressed in white from head to toe, guests arrive at the pickup location with supplies in hand ready to celebrate.
